Solar PV Panels for Winkford Farm, Surrey

Located in Godalming, Winkford Farm is a new build that faced exceptionally high electricity bills. The homeowner sought to make the property more energy-efficient, reduce environmental impact, and achieve greater energy independence. The project aimed to balance the need for renewable electricity generation and an energy-efficient heating system to address the growing energy costs.

Solution:

The solar energy and heating system was designed to provide a reliable, long-term solution to the homeowner’s energy challenges.

  1. Solar PV System:
A 20.16kW in-roof Solar PV array was installed across the roof of the property, designed to harness the full potential of sunlight throughout the year. This system is capable of generating approximately 15,140kWh of electricity annually, which significantly reduces the homeowner’s dependency on grid electricity.

  2. Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP):
To support sustainable heating and cooling, a 33kW Steibel Eltron Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) was installed. This system provides all the heating, hot water, and cooling requirements for the property, using the naturally occurring heat stored in the ground.

  3. Underfloor Heating (UFH) System:
UFH emitters were integrated into the floor, walls, and ceiling, providing an efficient and comfortable heating solution. This allows the heat pump to work at its optimal efficiency, ensuring minimal energy waste while maintaining a comfortable temperature year-round.
