A sailing club in Ripley, Woking was seeking a solution to reduce its high electricity bills while enhancing its sustainability efforts. With a large, flat roof area ideal for solar installation, the club decided to invest in a renewable energy system. The primary goal was to significantly lower energy costs and ensure a reliable, renewable energy supply throughout the day, including during peak periods when energy demand is typically highest.
Solution:
To meet the club’s energy needs and goals, we designed and installed a comprehensive solar energy system comprising a 15kW Solar PV array and an 18.4kWh Solaredge Battery system. The combined system was tailored to address the club’s specific electricity consumption patterns while enhancing overall energy efficiency.
Solar PV System:
A 15kW solar PV array was installed on the flat roof of the private members club. The array was positioned to optimise sunlight exposure throughout the year, allowing the club to generate its own electricity. The system is estimated to produce over 12,000kWh of electricity annually, which significantly reduces the club’s reliance on grid power.Energy Storage:
To ensure that the club can make full use of the energy generated by the solar panels, an 18.4kWh Solaredge Battery system was installed. This advanced energy storage system allows excess electricity generated during daylight hours to be stored and used during peak times or when the solar panels are not generating energy, such as in the evening. This provides a constant supply of renewable energy and maximises cost savings.
