Good news for anyone considering a heat pump or biomass boiler. The government has announced that from 20th May, the Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP) vouchers have increased.
The Renewable Heat Premium Payment is a voucher scheme, which provides a financial contribution towards the cost of installing renewable heating. In advance of the full domestic Renewable Heat Incentive, expected to launch in Spring 2014, the vouchers are in place to encourage homeowners to install their renewable heating now. They are valid only from now until the full scheme launches.
New RHPP voucher values
Product | Old voucher value | New voucher value |
---|---|---|
Biomass Boiler | £950 | £2,000 |
Ground Source Heat Pump | £1,250 | £2,300 |
Air Source Heat Pump | £850 | £1,300 |
Solar Thermal | £300 | £600 |
To apply for a Renewable Heat Premium Payment voucher, homeowners will need to have carried out a Green Deal Assessment. Linking the Green Deal scheme in with the RHPP incentive in this way is designed to encourage homeowners to think about energy saving solutions beyond just their heating. Homeowners will also be able to use the Green Deal towards some of the cost of installation, through savings on their energy bill.
