Energy firm SSE, which includes the local energy company Southern Electric, will increase its domestic gas and electricity prices by an average of 9% from 15 October. According to the BBC, the forthcoming increases mean that a customer with an average standard dual-fuel bill will pay an extra £102 for the year, or £1,274 in total. Other energy providers are expected to introduce similar price hikes shortly.
The rise of energy prices seems to have no end. In 2011, all the big-six energy suppliers raised their prices – in some cases twice!
Now is the perfect time to protect yourself from these rises by installing renewable energy. You?ll be surprised what you can save! Thanks to government incentives, a 16-panel solar PV system could make you £860 tax-free each year ? that?s two-thirds of an average customers total fuel bill!
