SSE customers will see their bills rise by an average of 8.2% from 15th November, SSE have announced today. The increases will affect 4.4million electricity customers and 2.9million gas customers.
Despite increasing pressure from homeowners and government to ease the strain on the household purse, the soaring price of wholesale energy continues to force bills up.
“We’re sorry we have to do this,” said SSE’s Will Morris.
“We’ve done as much as we could to keep prices down, but the reality is that buying wholesale energy in global markets, delivering it to customers’ homes, and government-imposed levies collected through bills – endorsed by all the major parties – all cost more than they did last year.”
EnergyMyWay strongly encourages homeowners and businesses to consider the options for switching to renewable energy. With the new Renewable Heat Incentive and the stability of the Feed-in Tariff, alternatives such as solar power, ground or air source heat pumps and biomass boilers provide long-term protection from reliance on traditional fuels.
?As energy bills continue to soar, we are experiencing an increasing demand for renewable technologies?, says Jason Hobbins, Managing Director
?Government subsidies supporting the use of renewable energy mean consumers are reaping substantial financial rewards for generating their own energy. SSE?s announcement today further highlights that now it?s more important than ever to consider your renewable energy options.?
