New Wood Pellet Manufacturing Facility in Andover

A £15 million biomass fuel production plant is being built in Andover, local MP Greg Barker has revealed.

The plant is expected to produce 55,000 tonnes of wood pellets from renewable sources each year, for use in biomass heating systems, Heating and Ventilating Review reports.

Mr Barker, who is also the current minister of state for energy and climate change, told the publication that helping projects like this to thrive is a vital facet of the government’s plans to reduce the country’s carbon emissions.

“The coalition’s Renewable Heat Incentive is the first of its kind in the world. It will help the UK shift away from fossil fuels, supporting jobs and growth in an important green industry of the future,” he said.
