How much energy does a house in the UK use?

I have a google powermeter installed in my home which measure how much electricity we use.  The house is a typical 1930’s 3 bed semi with two adults and 1 child living there, I predominately work from home which obviously impacts on the energy usage.

In November we used 470kWh of electricity with a base load (always on) of 220 kWh, in December we used 510 kWh and the base load remained at 220kWh. This would give an annual consumption of approx 5,000 – 6,000 kWh per year. A 3.7 kWp solar PV installation will produce approximately 3,000 kWh of electricity.

The google powermeter is easy to install and connects directly to the internet so you can check up on your energy use even when your not there!

How am I doing?
