Whilst there are merits to having solar panels installed on your property free of charge, home owners should be aware of the income they are giving up in the form of Feed in Tariffs which over the lifetime of the FiT’s could equate to £35,000.
In short a solar pv installation will cost between £12,000 – £16,000, and generate the equivalent income of £35,000 over the 25 years, by having them installed f.o.c. you forego the £35,000 but would benefit from energy savings as you could use the electricity being produced from your roof which could be worth up to £230 per annum.
