The Domestic RHI scheme has arrived

The Government has at last launched the Domestic RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) scheme. It means homeowners will receive subsidies for switching to renewable energy heat sources, such as biomass, heat pumps and solar thermal.

The long-awaited scheme will change the way we heat our homes forever.

The option of using renewable energy for our heating and hot water instead of expensive unsustainable fossil fuels will now be realistic and affordable.

Homeowners all over the UK can now switch to renewable energy heating such as Biomass Boilers and Ground Source Heat Pumps or Air Source Heat Pumps, with the cost of a fully installed system covered by the brand new government subsidy.

Switching to renewable heating sources also means huge savings on heating bills, and could be a big step towards reducing fuel poverty in the UK.

The launch of the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive marks a significant change in the way homes all over the UK will use their energy, and you are still in plenty of time to switch to renewable energy before the winter.

Here?s what EnergyMyWay Director, James Eades, said about the news:

James EadesThis is good news for the future of our energy and for homeowners worried about increasing energy costs. Over the next few years we are going to see the biggest change in the way UK homeowners heat their homes thanks to an incentive that makes the switch to renewable heating a real alternative for everyone.

How the Renewable Heat Incentive Works

The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive is designed to encourage property owners to use renewable energy for heating and hot water instead of unsustainable fossil fuels like oil and gas.

  • It is paid to the owner of the property over a 7-year period and is designed to cover the cost of a fully-installed renewable energy system.
  • Biomass Boilers, Solar Thermal Systems, Air Source Heat Pumps and Ground Source Heat Pumps all qualify for the incentive, but you must use an MCS accredited company like EnergyMyWay to install the system in order to qualify for the RHI payments.
  • RHI payment rates vary depending on the chosen system and how much heat is used, but the principle aim of the incentive is to make sure you recoup the costs of changing your heating system, as well as lowering heating bills.
