How the Renewable Heat Incentive Works
The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive is designed to encourage property owners to use renewable energy for heating and hot water instead of unsustainable fossil fuels like oil and gas.
- It is paid to the owner of the property over a 7-year period and is designed to cover the cost of a fully-installed renewable energy system.
- Biomass Boilers, Solar Thermal Systems, Air Source Heat Pumps and Ground Source Heat Pumps all qualify for the incentive, but you must use an MCS accredited company like EnergyMyWay to install the system in order to qualify for the RHI payments.
- RHI payment rates vary depending on the chosen system and how much heat is used, but the principle aim of the incentive is to make sure you recoup the costs of changing your heating system, as well as lowering heating bills.
