Suppliers of Chinese Solar PV panels have dramatically increased their panel prices after an announcement from the European Commission that anti-dumping duties may be applied to all panels Produced in China.
The uncertainty over Chinese panels created by this news has led to many orders of Chinese Solar panels being cancelled and suppliers hiking their prices in fear that the duties my be retroactively applied.
What are anti-dumping duties?
Dumping is the act of charging a lower price in a foreign market than would be charged for the same product for use in the domestic market of the exporter. Dumping is condemned by the World Trade Organisation, as it is seen to threaten the domestic industry in the importing country.
What should I do if I?ve been quoted for Chinese panels?
If you have been quoted for Chinese panels but have not yet had your Solar PV installed, you may want to ask your installer for a new quote, based on European panels. EnergyMyWay has strong relationships with panel manufacturers such as Romag whose panels will not be affected. We are able to install European panels for a highly competitive price.
