Say ?Goodbye? to expensive heating bills by switching to a biomass boiler or heat pump
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a new Government subsidy designed to encourage the use of renewable energy.
What this boils down to is a whole list of benefits to you ? from cheaper fuel to more sustainable living ? we look at why there has never been such a good time to make the move to renewables.
Right now if you have a boiler installed by an accredited organisation, such as EnergyMyWay, the RHI scheme aims to pay back the cost of your fully installed system.
1. Cheaper bills
How much can you save? It all depends on your property, your fuel consumption and the type of boiler you install, but savings of up to 40% on your bills are possible, and that is before the tax-free subsidy payments you?ll receive.
2. Costs covered
The Renewable Heat Incentive works by offering regular payments to those using renewable technologies to heat their homes. These are designed to help offset the cost of installing and running a more sustainable form of heating.
You will start receiving quarterly payments once your system is installed and commissioned by your MCS-accredited installation company. The tariff payment is for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of renewable heat your new system produces. It is guaranteed for 7 years, index linked and tax-free.
Not only will people have warmer homes and cheaper fuel bills, they will reduce their carbon emissions?and also get cash payments for installing these technologies.
MP, Greg Barker
3. More freedom
Every year we hear that the cost of fuel is increasing and our heating bill will rise again. With renewable energy you are free from the utilities companies? price hikes.
You can look forward to long-term, lower-cost bills that are more predictable and manageable.
4. Sustainable fuels
Our heat pumps use the energy in the ground or air to heat your home while the fuel used in our biomass boilers comes from fast-growing plentiful crops.
With renewable energy you can remove the worry of your fuel source running out as the planet?s natural resources diminish.
5. The right time
Why wait? Now is the perfect time to install your new system – when it?s not cold outside and you aren?t reliant on your boiler for heat. Act now and you?ll be all set with a brand new, money-saving system to see you through the winter.
Which types of heating systems are included in the scheme?
Ground or air source heat pumps, solar thermal and biomass boilers are all included. These technologies use lower cost fuels and emit less carbon.
The Government is under pressure to reduce carbon emissions so the incentive has been designed to encourage you to start using renewable energy.
How do these systems work?
Who can apply?
The RHI covers properties in England, Wales and Scotland. If you are an owner-occupier, private landlord, registered provider of social housing, third party owner of a heating system or a self-builder you should qualify for the scheme.
