Return is calculated using combined bill savings and subsidy earnings. Bill savings are calculated using estimated energy usage and either the electricity price at the time of installation (26 September, 2015) or, for our heating products, the existing fuel type available to the property.
The objective was to maximise the return on a near-perfect south-facing roof, but with limited roof space. Following our survey we identified this would best be achieved with a highly efficient solar panel system giving optimum output from a smaller surface area than standard panels.
For this property we installed 12 x LG 315w solar PV panels. These high output panels give an exceptionally high performance, which means you can achieve the desired 4kWp system with 12 instead of the usual 16 panels. So, even with a smaller roof, our customer will enjoy all the benefits of cheaper electricity bills and tax-free payments from the Feed-in Tariff.
