Like many secondary schools, Dartmouth Academy is accountable for all its running costs and operates in a period of declining per capita funding. Recognising the need for additional revenue and cost savings, the Academy secured a grant for Solar PV and approached our Solar PV Devon specialists to tender for the works.
The school takes a proactive approach to renewable energy; a wind turbine has already been installed and the school is aiming to ultimately become energy cost neutral.
On winning the tender, EnergyMyWay worked closely with Western Power who put in a new transformer for the whole school. We dealt directly with the District Network Operator to ensure there would be enough grid capacity for 50kW Solar PV.
The installation took place as part of a £7.5million rebuild programme, necessitating EnergyMyWay to cultivate the trust of constructors who demanded the highest levels of professionalism, as well as manage all works around the school term. The school commended the Solar PV Devon team ensuring a complex project of significant importance progressed smoothly and without fuss to a successful conclusion.
