The owner of this rural property in Cheshire was attracted to the environmental benefits and financial returns of solar, but did not like the look of conventional solar panels.
As specialists in a wide variety of attractive solar solutions, EnergyMyWay were invited to review his plans for a new garage building he was developing and to propose a solution that was aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with the overall design of the building.
After considering a number of options, we agreed upon a solar tile system from Solar Century, which fitted perfectly with the slates the owner had specified for the building. As a roof-integrated system the panels fit directly onto the roof battens and not only fit flush with the roof for a seamless look, but also replace the slates, providing a waterproof seal and saving the cost of slating part of the roof. Working in conjunction with his building contractor and the solar tile manufacturer, we ensured the overall solar installation was fully integrated with the build schedule and delivered a seamless installation.
Whilst solar tiles are certainly not the cheapest solution, this discerning owner was very pleased with the overall look provided and still received a very healthy return on his investment. As part of the installation we also fitted an ‘Immersun’ controller to direct excess electricity generated to heat his hot water utilising more of his free electricity.
