Anne Guy Catering is a busy commercial kitchen, the leading independent party caterer in Bristol and North Somerset. At their premises in rural Somerset there is no grid gas, the entire energy needs of the kitchen are met using electricity.
This thriving local business was the perfect candidate to benefit from Solar PV. Operating up to seven days a week they have an extremely high energy demand, particularly during daylight hours. Solar energy could make a huge difference to their running costs.
As the property is listed and had no suitable roof space, EnergyMyWay recommended a ground mounted Solar PV array, using railway sleepers to support the Clenergy Solar Terrace 3 mounting kit. To protect the sleepers from moisture they were positioned on pea gravel covering a growth surpressent membrane.
As work starts early in the morning at the kitchen, EnergyMyWay designed a system facing SSW and SSE, rather than a traditional due South facing array. This meant they could start generating energy earlier in the day and through to the evening with less of a midday energy peak. On some days the business now runs almost 100% on solar energy.
Anne Guy Catering have now adapted all their marketing materials to promote their new greener business.
