Return is calculated using combined bill savings and subsidy earnings. Bill savings are calculated using estimated energy usage and either the electricity price at the time of installation (1 April, 2014) or, for our heating products, the existing fuel type available to the property.
This Cornwall homeowner was already enjoying the benefits of renewable energy when she approached EnergyMyWay looking to get more from her existing solar panels. The initial enquiry was regarding battery storage for solar energy but our Cornwall Solar Panel expert identified an opportunity to upgrade the system to produce more solar energy at a lower cost.
Our survey revealed that, although the existing solar panels array consisted of 16 panels, usually indicating a 4kWp system, the panels were in fact 130W each and hense only a 2kWp system.
We suggested the customer install an additional 2kW of Solar PV using more efficient Panasonic 240W HiT modules to take up less space in the garden. For the installation we used a south-facing tilting frame, which would produce more energy in the winter.
