Return is calculated using combined bill savings and subsidy earnings. Bill savings are calculated using estimated energy usage and either the electricity price at the time of installation (29 August, 2014) or, for our heating products, the existing fuel type available to the property.
This Cornwall homeowner approached our solar panel experts wanting to reduce her electricity bill and protect herself from rising bills in the future. We identified a ground-mounted system as the ideal solution as it could be easily installed and would maintain the aesthetics of the main house.
We installed a 4kWp (16 panel) solar panel array which will generate an income from the Feed-in Tariff for the next 20 years. When this is added to the bill saving achieved from using solar energy, our client stands to make a financial gain of around £980 a year, tax-free and index linked.
