This rural Warwickshire property was being heated by an old oil boiler that was nearing the end of its useful life. The homeowner had been suffering from increasingly high oil bills and also had a number of rooms in the house with insufficient heat to keep them warm in the winter. EnergyMyWay’s Warwickshire team were asked to assess the feasibility of a biomass boiler, a lower cost heating system that would give long-term cheaper bills and meet all the heat demand for the property.
Thanks to the Renewable Heat Incentive, a biomass boiler could be installed with all costs covered by government incentive payments.

We located a 20kW biomass boiler in the garage, manually fed from a 440kg hopper. This biomass boiler provides instant hot water, with the added benefit that the customer now has more storage space where the hot water tank used to be. By replacing an undersized radiator in the lounge this will also ensure the living area remains warm even on the coldest winter days. Our customer is already enjoying the benefits of the Renewable Heat Incentive which will pay back the cost of the new biomass boiler in approximately 6 years.
