Return is calculated using combined bill savings and subsidy earnings. Bill savings are calculated using estimated energy usage and either the electricity price at the time of installation (3 June, 2014) or, for our heating products, the existing fuel type available to the property.
This homeowner was aware of the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme and was keen to investigate a biomass boiler to reduce their energy bills. As there were 2 properties, we identified that they were in fact eligible for the non-domestic scheme, which will deliver higher returns than the domestic tariff and effectively remove the fuel bill altogether.
EnergyMyWay designed and installed a 32kW Froling wood pellet boiler and 5 tonne bag silo. The larger size of the silo means fewer pellet deliveries and greater savings. A buried heating main distributed heat from the plant room in an outbuilding, to the main house and nearby bungalow. Our client can now enjoy returns of around £4,000 a year for 20 years in combined bill savings and Renewable Heat Incentive payments.
