Return is calculated using combined bill savings and subsidy earnings. Bill savings are calculated using estimated energy usage and either the electricity price at the time of installation (17 June, 2015) or, for our heating products, the existing fuel type available to the property.
The client has a property with high electricity consumption. He already had a 4 kWp system installed, and was looking to increase energy generation to offset high electriciy bills and to secure an income from the Feed in Tariff.
We placed an enquiry with the local DNO, for a larger grid connection, and after permissions were granted we installed a 6 kWp solar PV system, based on the cost-effective Canadian Solar Range. To provide further savings we provided a dual channel Immersun unit, to divert surplus energy harvested to provide hot water via the existing domestic hot water cylinder..
